First Grade will be learning how to decode and read new words using
many different strategies. This will enable them to become independent
readers this year. They also will utilize comprehension strategies
such as : summarizing, predicting, inferring, monitoring, and
questioning.
This year in math the students will learn to add, subtract, make and
read graphs, solve story problems, identify plane and solid shapes,
and count to 100 in various ways.
The children will also be learning to write different kinds of stories
in their Kid Writing journals.
